What’s High Strength Automotive Steel?
High‑strength automotive steel refers to advanced high‑strength steel (AHSS) designed for automobile manufacturing complying with VDA standards.
It mainly includes dual‑phase DP steel, press‑hardening steel, HSLA steel and bake‑hardening steel.
Grades such as CR330Y590T-DP CR440Y780T-DP CR440Y780T-DH and CR700Y980T-DP are widely adopted.
Compared with ordinary steel, it achieves vehicle lightweight while greatly improving crash‑resistance, stiffness and welding performance. These materials are used for A/B‑pillar reinforcements, bumper beams, chassis components and EV battery-pack parts.
Product Overview
These are cold-rolled dual-phase (DP) advanced high‑strength steels (AHSS) manufactured in compliance with VDA 239-100 automotive standard for passenger-vehicle lightweight structural parts.
CR = Cold-rolled; the number before Y stands for typical yield strength; figures behind T mean typical tensile strength.
DP: Conventional dual‑phase steel with ferrite-martensite microstructure.
DH (High-ductility version): 3rd-generation DP steel with extra retained austenite, delivering higher elongation, superior hole-expansion performance and edge‑crack resistance than standard DP of the same strength grade.
